Entirely impossible creatures come alive through Williams’ expert application of common & mechanical graphite pencils, oil and at times acrylic paint. He’s done concept designs for Darren Aronofsky’s “Noah,” Guillermo Del Toro’s Pacific Rim & the on-again, off-again HP Lovecraft/Toro/James Cameron/Tom Cruise epic “At The Mountains of Madness.”
One of the simpler pleasures I miss from traditional media is the direct ‘feel’of the texture of paper against the pencil-tip, the joy seeing the paper’s texture add detail that may or may not really be here, tricking your brain into filling in some missing parts, and all the ‘happy accidents’ that go along with that…
